Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS)

United States Immigration laws contain special provisions for certain undocumented immigrants minors (children under the 21 years of age) to apply for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status classification.  Based on the SIJ classification, you may then be eligible to obtain a Green Card, if certain requirements are met.

The Special Immigrant Juvenile Status Process offers a pathway to lawful permanent residency for eligible minors who have been subjected to abuse, abandonment, or neglect by one or both parents.

To be eligible for SIJ classification with USCIS, a juvenile court order issued by a state court must first be obtained with the findings that the reunification of the child with one or both parents is not possible due to abuse, abandonment, and neglect.

A minor may be eligible for SIJ even if the minor entered the United States illegally by crossing the U.S borders; and even if minor was or is currently in removal proceedings with the Immigration Court facing deportation/removal from the United States.
